Kolkata Bridge Accident: A big accident has happened in West Bengal’s capital Kolkata. On Tuesday, one person died due to falling part of the Majherhat bridge in the area. Twenty people have died in this accident. Please tell that the victim’s bridges were found safe in the investigation 6 months ago.
Due to delay in relief and rescue work after the accident, the BJP is raising questions over Mamata’s government. A rescue operation is currently underway for overnight. The teams of NDRF and state’s relief and rescue team are working. Earlier, on March 31, 2016, 26 people died due to the collapse of the Vivekananda flyover under construction.

At least one person was killed and more than 20 people were injured when a part of the 50-year-old bridge collapsed on Tuesday evening in the southern region of Kolkata, collapsing on Tuesday evening.
In Kolkata, 50-year-old bridge in Alipur area collapsed during peak hour at about five o’clock and collapsed on the railway line. This bridge passes over the Majerahat railway station and connects the city center to the densely populated area of Behala, other southern suburbs and South 24 Parganas district adjacent.
Many vehicles have also been damaged in this accident. A minibus, four cars, and four motorcycles were seen in the debris by the evening.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who went on a tour of Darjeeling in north Bengal, expressed her condolences on the incident and said that her government will investigate the collapse of the bridge. Mamata Banerjee has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the person killed and 50-50 thousand rupees for the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the incident as very unfortunate and wished the victims to be quick to recover. A member of the Mayor-Council in the municipal corporation said that the 450-meter bridge was constructed in the early 1960s and it was looked after by the Public Works Department. Some locals say that the bridge collapsed due to the construction of the metro railway pillars near here but it has not been immediately confirmed by its experts. The opposition parties blamed the Trinamool Congress and said that the main reason for this incident is ‘its negligence towards the repair of old bridges’. Senior BJP leader Mukul Roy said, “The incident of bridge collapse is really very unfortunate. The state government is fully responsible for this. The repair of old bridges is not even in the agenda of the Trinamool Congress. ” Let us know that in the last five and a half years this third bridge in the city is an accident.
