Asian Games 2018: Ankita Raina got bronze medal in tennis

Jakarta: India’s women tennis player Ankita Raina has had to satisfy the bronze medal in women’s singles event in the 18th Asian Games here in semi-finals. China’s Shuai Jang defeated Raina 2-0 in the semi-final on Thursday. The Indian made a strong start to the first set but after the first three games, they lost their rhythm and the Chinese player won the set by 6-4. In the second set, both the players got a tough fight and the match went to the tie-breaker where Jang showed a brilliant game and won the match by winning 7-6. Ultimately, losing 6-7, he had to lose the second set and match of the game. In this way, he had to be content with the Bronze Medal in the 18th Asian Games. Earlier on Wednesday, he had conquered Hong Kong’s I was Wong Chong 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-final by making the medal. He had to satisfy himself with Bronze after losing 4-6, 6-7 against Jang. This is India’s first medal with tennis in the 2018 Asiad. With this, the number of Indian medalists in the Asian Games has been 16 (4 gold, 3 silver, and 9 bronze).
